Our son is the self-proclaimed King of Cheeseburgers. He tries, and critiques Cheeseburgers at almost any place we go, and Universal Orlando Resort is no different. He decided on our way to Orlando, that he would try three cheeseburgers, and then proclaim which wins his ‘Best Cheeseburger at Universal Orlando Resort’ seal of approval. That may sounds easy but just the shear number of quick service and sit-down restaurants Universal Orlando Resort is staggering, so we decided to focus on three restaurants in CityWalk.
First up was the Cowfish ‘The C.B.C.L.T.’. They describe this as a ‘Beef burger, cheddar cheese, applewood bacon, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, Cowfish sauce, brioche bun. Our son ordered it without the white cheddar, no tomato, and Cowfish sauce on the side (Photo courtesy of 10bestmedia.com)
Second up was the ‘Simple Burger’ at NBC Sports Grill & Brew™. The menu states the burger as ‘Choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, toasted brioche bun.’ My son ordered it without the tomato as he does with all burgers, but he also removed the onions for his first bite so he had a cleaner first bite (Photo courtesy of Share Orlando).
The final cheeseburger in this contest, was the Hardrock Cafe ‘Legendary Burger’ . The menu describes this burger as ‘A juicy 1/2-lb Certified Angus Beef® burger topped with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, golden fried onion ring, crisp lettuce and vine-ripened tomato.’ He once again removed the tomato (Photo courtesy of Universal blog).
I know you are on the edge of your seating needing to know the crowed winner, so drum roll please…….Cowfish ‘The C.B.C.L.T.’! His statements were that the burger “was cooked just right”, “the taste was superb”, and “the seasoning was just right”. All burgers were ordered medium-well. Our son did note that Cowfish just barely beat out Hardrock, but “the Cowfish burger was cooked to the perfect level of Medium-well.”
Disclosure: Some of our trip was part of the Family Forward conference, and although we shelled out plenty o’ cash, some of the events, and some meals were subsidized. All opinions are those of our son. He is one smart cookie though….like the food reference?
