A Spontaneous Date with My Husband, Paperclips & Yogurt Included

Hold onto your hats folks, you are going to be totally envious and wish you were me: I had a spontaneous date with my husband last night.

Not an ordinary, take a shower and put on something purty cause you are going out to dinner type of dealio. Nope, we went above and beyond.

Do you sense some sarcasm? your onto me. My hubby was about to head out to Stop & Shop for a few groceries that my mom requested (she is still visiting) and sensing my need for a break from laundry duty, he said, ‘do you want to come with me?’

‘Can we make it a date?’ I asked. He said ‘Yes ma’am. I said ‘Count me in. Can we kick it up a notch and go to Staples as well because I need a ledger for the biz’.

Can I say that although this sounds lame, we called it a date and held hands to whole time and even snuck in a few smooches right in the middle of the store. I know, I know, lame-o romantico. You caught me.

Normally, running in and out of store is far from romantic but we went without our fabu kids, held hands and took care of some items on the to-do list all at once.

What does your ideal date night look like?

So sweet! My husband and I take every single opportunity we can to treat an outing like a date. Even if it *is* just running errands. You can’t let time pass you by without noticing, you’ve got to make an effort and make every minute count. We are lucky enough to be able to have official date nights more than I thought we would, though. Very blessed!

That is so cute! I love when we can do errands without the kids sometimes… it’s a nice change from the complaining that they don’t want to go shopping!

Random question – did you make your own fake mustaches? I’m looking to make fake eyebrows for a friend and was wondering what you used as an adhesive and also what fabric/where you got it.
    Thanks!

Hilarious but true post, I totally get it! I went on a “date” with my husband shopping for his clothes today. Sometimes it’s the best and only way to get some hubby time!

You both look so happy 🙂 my bf is a workaholic and we don’t do “romantic” dates… every moment we spend together is valuable and our Sunday lunch dates are my favorite part of the week.

That’s so funny – I just wrote about date night too! We often do errands on date night, a longstanding tradition in our 18+-year relationship. And we try to walk instead of driving….

You are so cute, yea that sums up how a lot of dates go around here, glad I’m not alone 🙂 I love impromtu fun “date” moments. Ideal date actually happened yesterday, lounging on rafts in pool with hubby (no kids splashing)yep-I’m simple that way-it’s the best kind of date to me, talking, having fun and just being together.(plus no one to interrupt our conversation)
