The Wrap Skirt Incident & Yogurt with Grapes, Blueberries and Granola

The other day on Twitter, a friend wrote ‘Tell me something funny and make me smile. This has been a bad day’. I replied ‘Did I tell you about the day my wrap skirt unwrapped at school?’

Then I realized that I had never shared this story with you: I was 9 years old when my grandmother made me a wrap skirt. She was a seamstress by trade and we were too poor to buy trendy clothing such as a wrap skirt (yes, this dates me) but she did her best to keep us somewhat up to date in all things fashion.

I was walking with my sister and step-brother down the hallway, as we did each day on our journey home, and I suddenly realized that I felt a breeze on my behind. Sure enough, I looked down to find the wrap skirt was in the midst of wrapping itself around my ankles. Yup, there was a hallway full of grammer school kids behind us. I was mortified.

Needless to say, I did not want to go to school the next day.

Are you laughing? Shame on you…..it is okay, I can laugh about it now.

Today, I present a ridiculously fast and healthy breakfast or snack recipe. There is no way I can listen to you say you ‘don’t have time’ to make this.

Yogurt with Grapes, Blueberries and Granola (serves 1)
1 container of your favorite quality yogurt (Chobani or Stonyfield are my choices), plain or vanilla
1 handful of grapes, sliced
1 handful of blueberries
1 handful of lower sugar variety granola (I used Udi’s original)

Toss them together and enjoy the energy!

p.s. Don’t miss the Live Breakfast Chat today (awesome prizes too!!)

tee hee – I laughed only a little, but I am mortified for you too! 🙂

I remember MY first wrap skirt, I think it was made by my mom – she made many of my clothes… I LOVED THAT SKIRT. 😀

Amazing how boys would show up just in time to walk you to class. Thanks for sharing!

Ha — I am quite certain it was a wrap skirt which flew up around my ears Marilyn-Monroe style my first day of university — I was walking through the main administration building built some time in the 1800s and the air vent from below was BLASTING. As I recall, however, a couple of very cute boys joined me to walk to class from there … 🙂

It’s great that we can all laugh about the embarrassing things that happened to us years ago. Something similar happened to me on the playground in grade school, I was on the swing and my pants must have been a little baggy, because when my rear fell back on the swing everyone got a glimpse of my little kid butt! I can’t remember what happened after that, whether I just pulled ’em up and kept playing or sat and cried…:)

Grapes in yogurt?! Why did I never think of this?!?! Sounds so refreshing and tasty!

Thanks for the inspiration and the laugh!
