A Day In The Life….Weekend Skating with A Duck & A Talent Show

Ouchies & Talent are the keywords for this past weekend.

Saturday, March 19th:

First up was a breakfast of eggs, bacon and blueberries before we hit the gym. Once cleaned up, we all doned our green and while I cleaned out the laundry area, my husband got to work on the vanity/desk overhaul.

Then I moved onto the pantry makeover during which, my friend Janina came by to drop off my Lia Sophia order (oh, I have to show you what I got!). During this time, our daughter was working on a girl scout badge while our son played with his matchbox cars.

Once my husband was inside to eat lunch, I took off to the library, pharmacy, looked for apartments for mom (as will possibly need soon) and came home to find my husband now painting the stairs.

By mid-afternoon, the kids went to a skating play-date. I knew if I went along two things would happen:

1. I would use my voice in joyful bellows while my son tried ice-skating (on strict no talking orders right now).

2. My son would not try ice-skating and would not let go of Mommy’s leg. So, I stayed home and worked on the pantry video.

But here is what happened: My husband sent me a photo of our son ice-skating and noted that ‘he wishes Mommy was here to watch’ so I jumped in the car to give this boy his wish.

Guess what I found when I got there? A husband with a huge ‘egg’ on his forehead and a chipped tooth. Ouch! I think the duck saw the accident.

Then our son fell and took a good beating to his shin. And to top it all off, when we arrived home, the kids ran to the swings and our daughter fell off and hit her head. At one point, I had all three of them on the couch with ice on their boo-boos.

Sunday, March 18th:

After gym and church, the day mainly consisted of preparing for and attending the Talent Show. Our daughter requested daddy braid her hair while mommy helped put the outfit and accessorizes together.

First up in the show was Ben with the Kindergarten class singing ‘High Hopes’.

Then Isabel and 3 friends sang ‘Who Says’ by Selena Gomez. Can you see the true love in this photo or what?!?

Then we headed to a friend’s house for a bit (her buddy since infancy came to watch her perform). Since socializing via notes and gestures was not as fun for me and I had a goal in mind, the hubby took me home while the kids all played and had dinner together. My goal was to get my daughter’s bedroom makeover done. The ‘after’ photos of our daughter’s bedroom will be shared soon.

At about 9:00 my husband suddenly fell ill with a very painful sore throat and sniffles, so after a dose of Nyquil kicked in, I tucked him into bed and worked.

How was your weekend?
