Mercat a la Planxa: A Chicago Tapas Restaurant

Hello from the Windy City! I am here for a business trip and arrived hungry. I headed next door, with some colleagues, to ‘Mercat a la Planxa’ at the Blackstone Hotel.

Because we arrived at an ‘off time’ aka between lunch and dinner, we could only order off a small tasting menu but we were happy to order a number of plates to nibble on and hold us over until dinner.

We had: DATILES CON ALMENDRAS (BACON-WRAPPED DATES, MARCONA ALMONDS, LA PERAL)

tapas1

GAMBAS AL AJILLO (GARLIC SHRIMP, GUINDILLA CHILIES, TOAST)
tapas3

MIXTO CROQUETAS (SERRANO HAM & CHORIZO CROQEUTTES, ROMESCO) & QUESO MIXTO (CHEF’S SELECTION OF CHEESES)
tapas2

CHARCUTERIA MIXTO (CHEF’S SELECTION OF CURED MEATS) & VERDOSA (MIXED BABY GREENS WITH GREEN ASPARAGUS, AVOCADO, CONFIT CHERRY TOMATOES & SHAVED MAHON CHEESE)
